Washington, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States is expected to issue on Friday a resolution on the political crisis in Honduras, in response to a regional call to condemn the technical coup against the government of that Central American nation. Ambassador of member countries and representatives of mechanisms, including the Central American Integration System (SICA) and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) are attending the special meeting convened at the request of Honduras.Speakers sustained the right of the Honduran people to exercise democracy, the need to back the legitimately-elected authorities and contribute to keep stability and governability in the said territory.
Regional groups present in the meeting, as well as OAS working groups, are currently examining the draft resolution at the end of a preliminary discussion in the plenary.
