Caracas, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) President Hugo Chavez denounced recent statements from the Organization of American States Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (OAS-IACHR), the UN and the opposition for what they consider government attacks on freedom of speech.
In a TV broadcast from Lara, President Chavez snubbed statement by the OAS branch for Freedom of the Press Special Rapporteur Catalina Botero, who claimed that "Venezuela is reaching intolerable limits" on the matter, a copycat of Frank La Rue, UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, who on World Press Freedom Day (May 3,2010) urged to annul a capture warrant against outlaws owner of Globovision TV network Guillermo Zuloaga Nunez and his son Guillermo Zuloaga Siso, president of Toyoclub Venezuela.
President Chavez called a cynicism the calls to exonerate these people, whom he described as thieves, coup mongers and assassins.
